Portfolio

Most full-time play-by-play jobs also include duties such as creating content. Here is a summary of all the “non-play-by-play” work I’ve done.

Team Website

Entering the summer of 2023, I was about to begin my second season as the play-by-play voice for the Des Moines Peak Prospects, a now-defunct summer collegiate baseball team in the MINK League. However, I also wanted to build my communications portfolio – so I created a team website using WordPress. Throughout the season, I wrote recaps, interviewed players and coaches, and helped with social media.

NCAA Live Stats

During the 2024-25 athletic season, I trained with Ken Stegall and The Scorer’s Table on inputting live stats for basketball, volleyball, and soccer. While my experience is fairly new in this field, after my training (practicing at JV games), I was assigned to work four NCAA games during the season.

Student Media

I attended Lipscomb University from 2017-2021. I was offered the opportunity to work in various capacities with student media. While I could list all the things I accomplished, here are the highlights:

  • My freshman year, I earned an SPJ (Society of Professional Journalists) Mark of Excellence award for an audio news story on a local car meet

  • Weekly TV Newscast: Shot and edited news packages, anchored on set

  • Online Student Radio: Produced/co-anchored a live election coverage special in 2020, produced radio newscasts

  • Writing: Wrote stories for the student media website
